Catherine Wyler
Catherine Wyler, daughter of famous director William Wyler and Margaret Tallichet, is an accomplished producer and filmmaker. The first feature film she produced was “Memphis Belle” based on a World War II documentary of the same title made by her father. Her documentary productions, distributed by PBS, include “Witness to Hope,” a biography of Pope John Paul II and “Hot on the Trail: The Search for Sex and Romance in the Old World and the New.” Ms. Wyler received the Golden Reel Award for “Memphis Belle” and an award from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Moreover, she received the Woman of Vision award from Women in Film & Video DC and was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Information Special for Best Documentary in 1987.
Since 1980, Catherine Wyler has headed Wyler/Rymland Productions Inc., where she operates as an independent producer for film and television programs. She was the founding Artistic Director of the High Falls International Film Festival in Rochester, NY, from 2001 to 2009. Ms. Wyler garnered experience as the Senior Vice President of Production for Columbia Pictures from 1987 to 1988 and as Director of Cultural and Children’s Programming for PBS from 1982 to 1987. She began her career as Assistant Director of the Media Arts Program at the National Endowment for the Arts from 1977-82.
